Note 1 : The Coalition Government of Chief Minister Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo collapsed on 9th January, 1971. An anomalous situation of constitutional interest arose with the resignation of the Chief Minister. The Governor accepted the resignation of the Chief Minister with effect from 8-30 p.m. on 9th January, 1971. But the President’s Rule was imposed on 11th January, 1971. For a little more than one day the State was under the direct rule of the Governor.
