સોનોગ્રાફી પરીક્ષણ માટેનું મશીન

સોનોગ્રાફી એટલે ધ્વનિનાં મોજાંઓ દ્વારા શરીરનાં આંતરિક અંગોનું પરીક્ષણ.

સોનોગ્રાફી, અલ્ટ્રા-સોનોગ્રાફી અથવા અલ્ટ્રા સાઉન્ડ તરીકે પણ પ્રચલિત છે. આમાં ખાસ મશીન દ્વારા અવાજનાં મોજાં ઉત્પન્ન કરી, માનવશરિઇરમાં મોકલવામાં આવે છે. આ મોજાંઓ શરીરના વિવિધ ભાગો દ્વારા પરાવર્તિત થઇ પાછા મશીનમાં જાય છે, જ્યાં કોમ્પ્યુટર દ્વારા પૃથક્કરણ થઇ ચિત્રોમાં ફેરવવામાં આવે છે અને મશીનના પડદા પર આ ચિત્ર જોવા મળે છે.

ઇતિહાસ

સોનોગ્રાફી અથવા ધ્વનિનાં મોજાંના ગુણધર્મો ઉપર આધારિત મશીનનો સૌપ્રથમ ઉપયોગ બીજા વિશ્વયુદ્ધના સમયમાં પાણીમાં ડૂબેલી સબમરીન શોધવા માટે કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. તબીબી વિજ્ઞાનમાં સૌપ્રથમ ઉપયોગ પ્રોફેસર ડોનાલ્ડ દ્વારા ઈ. સ. ૧૯૭૨માં કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. આથી જ પ્રોફેસર ડોનાલ્ડ સોનોગ્રાફીના પિતામહ ગણાય છે.
