ગરુડ પુરાણ

ગરુડ પુરાણ હિંદુ ધર્મના ૧૮ પુરાણોમાંનું એક પુરાણ છે. તે વૈષ્ણવ સંપ્રદાયના સાહિત્યનો ભાગ છે,[૧] જેમાં મોટાભાગે વિષ્ણુની પ્રશંસા કરવામાં આવી છે.[૨] આ ગ્રંથની સૌ પ્રથમ આવૃત્તિ ઇ.સ. પૂર્વે ૧૦૦૦ની આસપાસ રચવામાં આવી હતી એવું મનાય છે,[૩] પરંતુ પાછળથી તેનું વિસ્તરણ અને ફેરફાર થયા છે.[૪][૫]
ગરુડ પુરાણની અનેક આવૃત્તિ જોવા મળે છે, જેમાં ૧૬૦૦૦ શ્લોકોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.[૫][૬]
