એડનની ખાડી

એડનની ખાડી (Arabic: خليج عدن; ખલીજ અદન) અરબી સમુદ્રમાં, યેમેન (અરબ દ્વિપકલ્પના દક્ષિણી તટે) અને સોમાલિયા (આફ્રિકાનું શિંગડું)ની મધ્યમાં આવેલી છે. રાતા સમુદ્ર અને એડનની ખાડીને માત્ર ૨૦ કિલોમીટર પહોળો બાબ અલ-મન્દેવ જળમરુમધ્ય એકબીજા સાથે જોડે છે[૧]. આ જળમાર્ગ સુએઝ નહેર જળ પરિવહન માર્ગનો એક મહત્ત્વનો ભાગ છે, જે ભૂમધ્ય સમુદ્રને અરબી સમુદ્ર દ્વારા હિંદ મહાસાગર સાથે જોડે છે. આ ખાડીમાંથી દર વર્ષે લગભગ ૨૧,૦૦૦ જેટલાં વિશાળ જળવાહનો પસાર થાય છે. આ ખાડીમાં મોટા પાયે ચાંચીયાઓ દ્વારા ગતિવિધિઓ થતી હોવાને કારણે આ ખાડીને "ચાંચીયા માર્ગ" પણ કહેવાય છે[૨].
