પશ્તો ભાષા

પશ્તો (پښتو), પઠાણી અથવા અફઘાની ભાષા (افغانی) એ પૂર્વીય ભારતીય-ઈરાની ભાષા છે. તે ભારતીય-યુરોપીય ભાષાકુટુંબનો ભાગ છે.^[૧]^[૨]^[૩] પશ્તો અફઘાનિસ્તાન અને પાકિસ્તાન દેશોની ભાષા છે. તે મુખ્યત્વે અફઘાનિસ્તાનમાં બોલાય છે. પરંતુ મધ્યયુગ દરમ્યાન પઠાણ શાસકોના આગમન સાથે પશ્તો ભાષાના શબ્દો ભારતીય ભાષાઓમાં પણ પ્રવેશ્યા છે. ઉર્દૂ ભાષામાં તથા કઇંક અંશે હિન્દી ભાષામાં પશ્તો ભાષાની અસર દેખાઇ આવે છે.
