વૈશ્વિક બૌદ્ધ શિખર સંમેલન એ એક વૈશ્વિક પરિષદ હતી જેનું આયોજન ભારત સરકારના સાંસ્કૃતિક મંત્રાલયે કર્યું હતું. તેમાં ઘણા દેશોના બૌદ્ધ સાધુઓ, વિદ્વાનો, સંઘના નેતાઓ અને ધર્મના અભ્યાસુઓએ ભાગ લીધો હતો.[૨] આ શિખર સંમેલનનું આયોજન દિલ્હીની અશોક હોટલમાં ૨૦-૨૧ એપ્રિલ દરમ્યાન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.[૩][૪]

૨૦૨૩ના સંમેલનમાં ૧૭૩ લોકો હાજર રહ્યા હતા જેમાં સંઘના ૮૪ સભ્યો અને ૧૫૧ ભારતીય પ્રતિનિધિઓનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. ભારતીય સહભાગીઓમાં સંઘના ૪૬ સભ્યો, ૪૦ સાધ્વીઓ અને દિલ્હીની બહારના વિસ્તારોના ૬૫ સામાન્ય લોકો હતા. આ સમિટની થીમ "સમકાલીન પડકારોના પ્રતિભાવોઃ ફિલોસોફીથી પ્રેક્ટિસ સુધી" પર કેન્દ્રિત હતી. વિદેશના ૧૭૧ પ્રતિનિધિઓ અને ભારતીય બૌદ્ધ સંગઠનોના ૧૫૦ પ્રતિનિધિઓએ ૨૦-૨૧ એપ્રિલ ૨૦૨૩ના રોજ ભાગ લીધો હતો.[૫][૬]

ઉદ્દેશ્યો

સંમેલનનો પ્રાથમિક ઉદ્દેશ્ય તાકીદના વૈશ્વિક મુદ્દાઓને સંબોધવાનો અને બુદ્ધ ધમ્મના સાર્વત્રિક મૂલ્યોમાં રહેલા ઉકેલોની શોધ કરવાનો છે. આનો હેતુ સામાન્ય બૌદ્ધ વિદ્વાનો અને ધર્મગુરુઓ માટે ફળદાયી ચર્ચામાં જોડાવા માટે એક મંચ સ્થાપિત કરવાનો છે. [૭] [૮] સમિટનો ઉદ્દેશ્ય ધર્મના મૂળભૂત સિદ્ધાંતો સાથે સંરેખણમાં, સાર્વત્રિક શાંતિ અને સંવાદિતાને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવાના અંતિમ ધ્યેય સાથે શાંતિ, કરુણા અને સંવાદિતા પરના બુદ્ધના ઉપદેશોને ઊંડાણપૂર્વક સમજવાનો છે. તદુપરાંત, સમિટ એવા દસ્તાવેજ તૈયાર કરવાનો પ્રયાસ કરે છે જે વધુ શૈક્ષણિક સંશોધન માટેના આધાર તરીકે સેવા આપી શકે, વૈશ્વિક સ્તરે આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સંબંધોના સાધન તરીકે તેની સંભવિતતાની શોધ કરી શકે. સંસ્કૃતિ મંત્રાલય દ્વારા તેની ગ્રાન્ટી સંસ્થા ઇન્ટરનેશનલ બુદ્ધિસ્ટ કોન્ફેડરેશન (IBC)ના સહયોગથી સમિટનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. [૧૭]

વિશ્વના વિવિધ ભાગોમાંથી પ્રતિષ્ઠિત વિદ્વાનો, સંઘના નેતાઓ અને ધર્મ સાધકો સાથે મળીને તાકીદના વૈશ્વિક મુદ્દાઓ પર વિચાર-વિમર્શ કરવા અને બુદ્ધ ધમ્મના સાર્વત્રિક મૂલ્યોમાં રહેલા ઉકેલો શોધવા. [૧૮] [૧૯] [૨૦] [૨૧]
