- જગતભરના જ્ઞાની લોકોથી લખાયેલ વિકિપીડિયા એક ખરેખર મુક્ત વિશ્વજ્ઞાનકોશ છે જેને જ્યાં પણ યોગ્ય લાગે ત્યાં સુધારી શકાય છે.
- વિકિપીડિયા:ગુજરાતીમાં કેવી રીતે ટાઇપ કરવું એ જોઈને થોડો મહાવરો કરવાથી આ જ્ઞાનકોશમાં આપ ફેરફાર કરી શકશો.
- સૌથી પહેલાં આપનો પરિચય અહીં મારા વિષેમાં આપશો તો વધુ સારું રહેશે, કેમકે તે તમારૂં પોતાનું પાનું છે, તમે ત્યાં ગમે તેટલા પ્રયોગો કરી શકો છો અને તમારા વિષે તમને જે યોગ્ય લાગે તે અન્ય વિકિપીડિયનોને જણાવી શકો છો. આ માટે સભ્ય પાનાંની નીતિ જોઇ લેવા વિનંતી છે. તમારી માહિતી વાંચીને અન્યોને તમારો સંપર્ક કયા સંદર્ભે કરવો તેની પણ જાણકારી મળી રહેશે.
- લખવાની શરૂઆત કરતા પહેલા આ નીતિ વિષયક લેખો: નિષ્પક્ષ દૃષ્ટિકોણ, પ્રારંભિક સંશોધન નહીં અને ચકાસણીયોગ્યતા તથા વિકિપીડિયા:વાચકો દ્વારા વારંવાર પૂછાતા સવાલો વાંચી જુઓ જેથી આપે આગળ કેવી રીતે વધવું તેનો ખ્યાલ આવી શકે.
- આપને લાગે કે સારા લખાણને ફેરફાર કરવાથી નુકસાન થશે તો ચર્ચા વિભાગમાં જઈ ફેરફાર કરો. આપે ક્યાં અને શું ફેરફાર કરેલ છે એની નોંધ જોઇ આપને આત્મસંતોષ થશે.
- ફેરફાર કરવા માટે લોગ ઈન (પ્રવેશ) કરવું જરૂરી નથી, પણ લોગ ઈન કરીને કાર્ય કરવાથી એની બરોબર નોંધ થાય છે. એટલે વિકિપીડિયા ઉપર હમેશાં લોગ ઇન કરીને જુઓ અને આપના જ્ઞાનનો લાભ બીજાને પણ આપો.
- નવો લેખ શરૂ કરતાં પહેલા, મુખપૃષ્ઠ પર શોધોમાં શબ્દ ટાઇપ કરીને શોધી જુઓ, અને જો આપને ચોક્કસ જોડણીની માહિતી ના હોય તો જુદી જુદી જોડણી વડે શબ્દ શોધીને પાકી ખાત્રી કર્યા બાદ જ નવો લેખ શરૂ કરવા વિનંતી.
- ક્યાંય પણ અટવાઓ કે મૂંઝાઓ તો નિ:સંકોચ મારો (નીચે લખાણને અંતે સમય અને તારીખનાં પહેલાં લખેલા નામ પર ક્લિક કરીને) કે અન્ય પ્રબંધકોનો સંપર્ક કરશો અને જો ત્યાંથી પણ આપને જવાબ ન મળે તો ચોતરા પર જઈને અન્ય સભ્યોને પૂછવા માટે નવી ચર્ચા ચાલુ કરી શકો છો. ચર્ચાના પાને લખાણ કર્યા પછી અંતે (--~~~~) ટાઈપ કરી અથવા
પર ક્લિક કરી અને આપની સહી કરવાનું ભૂલશો નહિ. - આપને અનુરોધ છે કે સમયાંતરે વિશેષ સમાચાર આપ સુધી પહોંચી શકે તે માટે ગુજરાતી વિકિપીડિયાની ટપાલ યાદીમાં આપનું ઇમેલ સરનામું નોંધાવો.

- Hello, I did see the translations. They seem to be fine to me but I cannot be sure as 1) I do not have an earphone to listen to the pronounciation 2) I do not have much knowledge about transliterations and my knowledge of Gujarati is next to nothing! Hi, I have been watching and following your edits for last few days and was having a feeling about you being non-Gujarati. I very much appreciate your effrots and valuable contributions. I just noticed that you had redirected the page correctly to the page with correct Gujarati spelling, which Harshbhai redirected to another page so re-establish your redirect. The page was created and edited by another Dhaval (Dhaval Bhavsar) not me, I am Dhaval Vyas, admin here. But I am sure that the user who created the page will be glad with your redirect. - Ha ha, actually I did realize soon after saving that message that I have made some mistake but thought it better to leave it that way :-) Btw, there is one User:Gujarati Sahitya Parishad on this wiki. I'll just like to point out that no organization is allowed to be represented as a user on any of the wikis and as such, this account should be blocked IMO. Do you agree? - :-) I don't agree with blocking User:Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, and even I don't understand the logic behind not allowing orgnaisations to be user on wikis. From the edits made by that account you would notice that they have been adding valuable information. That organisation has been supporting our cause upto a great extent. If they are not vandalising, advertising, or harming wikipedia and are having nutral PoV, what's wrong in having user name with organisation's name? But thanks for pointing out the fact that organisations are not allowed to be represented as users on wikis. I will do a further research on it and see what we can do. - I guess the logic might be that if allowed, this will open door to many other organizations too, with whom Wikipedia might not like to be associated, e.g., any political outfit. In this case, ofcourse as you said, User:Gujarati Sahitya Parishad is certainly making positive and NPOV contributions alone. But others may misuse it. When I asked for it to be blocked, I only meant so for technical reasons. I humbly suggest a solution to first inform them on their talk page and by email and encourage and persuade the individuals there to create their private accounts, before actually going ahead and blocking them. What I have said is in line with en:Wikipedia:Username#Promotional names.

- Thank you Lovy for providing this direct link. Firstly, it is merely English wikipedia's policy, and also there are many things in it which puts us in a safe position to have the user in question here. E.g. it mentiones "However usernames that contain such names are sometimes permissible;" also, it continues reading "A user who both adopts a promotional username and also engages in inappropriately promotional behaviors in articles about the company, group, or product, can be blocked." A user who both adopts a promotional username and.... clearly denotes that there could be users with promotional names. Moreover the policy only talks about ...a name of a company, group, institution or product... while the one we have here is an organisation. It has never engaged in promotional activities and instead has been sharing the resources/database it has. But yes, the issue is worth considering and thinking. We have blocked and deleted content of edits made as promotional information, whether it was about a person or company. With SUL also, it is not the case where policies remain same across all wikimedia wikis, they widely vary. And lastly, you have full right to discuss anything, whether it is policy or content. We here love discussions and never distinguis between old wines and newbies when discussing. This is exactly what I was saying. If some of us do know the individuals at GSP, we can tell them the problem and request them to register in their personal capacity, for example, say DhavalGSP or LovyGSP. This way they also get due credit for the contributions that they make. An organization is certainly a group, the en.wiki page does give "TrammelMuseumofArt" as a Username which is not allowed, which I guess would be very similar to GSP. - I personally know some people there and can talk to them, but let us, users here on wiki, discuss this first. I would add this on agenda for this Sunday's web meeting and discuss with with others who join it, have you seen વિકિપીડિયા:ગોષ્ઠિ? are you subscribed to our mailing list? I have sent notification on that as well. These are the meetings that we have every first Sunday of month, from 11.00 am to noon (Indian time), that happens on Skype. Do join if you are able to, and we can discuss this issue there and see what other users think. Accordingly, we can talk to GSP. Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I didn't have proper access to the internet in between and hence, also couldn't join the IRC. May I know what was the outcome of that debate? Moreover, what is the way to subscribe to mailing lists. I read some more on this and it seems that we can take a middle approach provided there is exactly one user operating the above-concerned account. We can then move the username to User:XYZ@GSP without any need for blocking the account and even preserving all the contributions made by the account. Hope this sounds more acceptable to you too. - No issues at all, I thought so that you might be busy for some reason. First of all about mailinglist, you can join it by clicking here. Request to join mailinglist is included in welcome message. I hope you were enquiring about gu.wiki mailing list only, the link I provided is for it. Discussion that we had on this month's web meeting is recorded/documented and published [[૧]]. The recording is split in 3 files, total duration is 1 hour 18 min. I had briefed about the three programs being planned as part of Wikisource's first anniversary celebration, how others can help, etc. We even discussed about wikivoyage, reg. how can we contribute, whether to start it in Gujarati, etc. As it was on the agenda, we even touched base with the issue we are discussing here, the issue of username. All attending the meetup uninamously provided their consent to keep the user name as it is for the one in question and when time arises, we could decide for future attempts when there is a conflict of interest or any vandalism, etc. Currently in goodwill no action to be taken for the User:GSP. The other two policy related decisions taken were: (1) new articles on districts should only be allowed once district is formally materialised. As recently Gujarat government declared formation of a few districts, there was activity to create articles about them, with almost nil information and/or references, and (2) information about race/religion to be removed from village articles, as and when we come across.
