Greetings, hope this message finds you all in the best of your health, and you are staying safe amid the ongoing crisis.

Firstly, to give you context, Small wiki toolkits (SWT) is an initiative to support small wiki communities, to learn and share technical and semi-technical skills to support, maintain, and grow. We are happy to inform you that the SWT group has planned a series of four online workshops for Indic Wikimedia community members during June & July 2020. These workshops have been specifically designed and curated for Indic communities, based on a survey conducted early this year. The four workshops planned in this regard are;

• Understanding the technical challenges of Indic language wikis (by Birgit): Brainstorming about technical challenges faced by contributors to Indic language Wikimedia projects.
• Writing user scripts & gadgets (by Jayprakash12345): Basics to intermediate-level training on writing user scripts (Javascript and jQuery fundamentals are prerequisites).
• Using project management & bug reporting tool Phabricator (by Andre): Introduction to Phabricator, a tool used for project management and software bug reporting.
• Writing Wikidata queries (by Mahir256): Introduction to the Wikidata Query Service, from writing simple queries to constructing complex visualizations of structured data.

WMF Board Governance meeting Gujarati community on March 7 (Sunday) from 12 pm to 1 pm

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. As a matter of fact, there had only been one member who served on the Board, from South Asia, in more than fifteen years of history.

In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees? In this regard, a meeting with the Gujarati community has been scheduled to discuss the proposed ideas and collect your thoughts and feedback. The meeting is on March 7 (Sunday) from 12 pm to 1 pm. Reference Previews early on gu.wikipedia?

Hello Dhuval, I hope you’re doing well. In November, you wrote on the wikitech-ambassadors mailing list that you would like to volunteer gu.wikipedia for the early deployment of Reference Previews. The Technical Wishes team would like this very much! I’ve also seen that gu.wikipedia already uses cite classes to specifiy types of citations. That would make it a very good candidate, because this way, the headings in the previews could be used to their full potential.

I’m wondering if you could ask around in your wiki if the guwiki community wants to have Reference Previews early. That is at least how it is usually done - maybe you have another process for this or have already done so?

We are currently planning to deploy the feature on a first group of wikis in May 2021. More information about the feature is on this project page. Because guwiki uses Reference Tooltips as a default gadget, the section about how Reference Previews interact with gadgets might be particularly interesting. -- Thanks for your time, and looking forward to hearing from you! [Small wiki toolkits] Workshop on Workshop on "Designing responsive main pages" - 30 April (Friday)

As part of the Small wiki toolkits (South Asia) initiative, we would like to inform you about the third workshop of this year on “Designing responsive main pages”. During this workshop, we will learn to design the main page of a wiki to be responsive. This will allow the pages to be mobile-friendly, by adjusting the width and the height according to various screen sizes. Participants are expected to have a good understanding of Wikitext/markup and optionally basic CSS.

Details of the workshop are as follows:

Members of the Wikimedia community have the opportunity to elect four candidates to a three-year term. After a three-week-long Call for Candidates, there are 20 candidates for the 2021 election.

An event for community members to know and interact with the candidates is being organized. During the event, the candidates will briefly introduce themselves and then answer questions from community members. The event details are as follows:

• Date: 31 July 2021 (Saturday)
• Timings: check in your local time

• Bangladesh: 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm
• India & Sri Lanka: 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm
• Nepal: 4:15 pm to 6:45 pm
• Pakistan & Maldives: 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

આઇપી પ્રતિબંધમાથી મુક્તિ કરવા બાબત

શ્રીમાન શ્રી , રોકની શરુઆત : ૧૨:૨૪, ૪ ડિસેમ્બર ૨૦૨૧ રોકની સમાપ્તિ : ૧૨:૨૪, ૫ ડિસેમ્બર ૨૦૨૧ પ્રસ્તાવિત રોક સહન કરનાર : 49.34.245.134 આ આઇપીમાં કેવળ બ્લોક થયેલ યુઝર id લૉગિન થયેલ પછી તરત લૉગ આઉટ થયેલ પણ જે પહેલાથી ઉપયોગમાં આઇપી હતી તેના પર 24 કલાકની રોક લાગેલ છે અને તેમાં તમોનું સપર્ક કરવા જણાવેલ છે તો આપશ્રી એક જવાબદાર વ્યક્તિ તરીકે મને 24 કલાક પહેલા આઇપી પ્રતિબંધમાથી મુક્તિ આપશો તેવી આશા રાખું છું. ખૂબ ખૂબ આભાર ગુજરાતી નોલેજ
